DILLON, Mont. - The No. 18 Carroll College Women's Basketball team are back on the road, gearing up for a Top-25 matchup with fellow Frontier leader, No. 12 Montana Western, in Dillon tonight at 5 p.m.
The Fighting Saints (14-5, 5-1), no stranger to stout competition, will square off with yet another team ranked in the NAIA Top-25 tonight in Dillon. Tonight marks the second meeting between Carroll and No. 12 Montana Western (17-2, 5-1).
Carroll got the upper hand in the three-game series between the two schools, picking up a 72-61 win over the then-ranked No. 21 Bulldogs in Helena. Shainy Mack led the way for the Bulldogs in the first matchup, followed closely by Brynley Fitzgerald's 14.
Fitzgerald is currently leading the Frontier Conference in points per game (17.3), and will face off against the second-highest scorer in the league tonight, Carroll's
Jamie Pickens (Helena, Mont. / SR) (15.2 ppg).
Pickens and Fitzgerald were named Preseason Frontier Conference Co-Player of the Year, and the two standouts have both been impact players in every game.
While most people will likely look at the battle between the two front court players as the key to the game, a pair of NCAA Division I transfer point guards could be battle to watch. Carroll's
Kamden Hilborn (Clancy, Mont. / GR) and Western's Jordan Sweeney have both run their respective offenses at a high-level in 2022-23.
Montana Western enters the game on a 12-game win streak, with their last loss coming at the hands of the Saints, while Carroll is 8-2 over their last ten games.
