Helena, Mont. – The Carroll College track and field team opens the indoor season at the Bobcat Challenge in Bozeman, Mont. on Friday January 20 and Saturday January 21.
The Saints return multiple previous National Qualifiers to competition this winter. On the women's side this includes Madde Boles (High Jump), Chloe Gallagher(Pole Vault), Kate Picanco (Middle Distance), Natalie Yocum (Distance), and Reghan Worley (Distance). On the men's side returners who have qualified for Nationals include Garrett Kocab (Shot Put), Van Gottwals (Middle Distance), and Brett Glaser (Heptathlon).
A variety of freshman athletes will make their debut at the meet. Excitement is particularly high for Carroll's former high school state track and field individual champions: Jackson Tarum (Montana C Pole Vault), Tate Kauffman (Montana AA Triple Jump), Sorren Reese (Montana C Javelin), Kayla Botkin (Montana A Discus), and Madison Lewis (Montana A Shot Put).
"The athletes have been looking forward to this meet since we kicked off training hard together this fall," said Head Coach Harry Clark. "We have a lot of young team members this year so we're excited to see how they progress this season," he added. "Plus we have a great group of seniors and former National Qualifiers who we expect to be competitive and consistent over the spring."
On Friday, events begin at 1:00 pm Mountain Time with Saints competing in the heptathlon, pentathlon, and men's pole vault. The remainder of events will take place on Saturday with Saints in the heptathlon starting at 10:30 am, field events beginning at 10:45 am, and running events at noon.
