HELENA, Mont.- The Carroll College Women's soccer team opened up Homecoming Weekend at Nelson Stadium by earning their first shutout in 2022 Cascade Collegiate Conference play, defeating Warner Pacific University 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The two teams played a scrappy game from the first whistle, each earning their fair share of fouls.

The physicality from both the Saints and the Knights kept the game at a high intensity. Lead by Molly Molvig (Billings, Mont. / SO), the Saint's back line successfully shut down the Knights' offense. Despite a scoreless first half, Carroll dominated the play, outshooting Warner Pacific twelve to two by the end of the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, things started to go the Saint's way. In the 57th minute, Blair Stapleton (Billings, Mont. / SR)  scored her tenth goal of the season. Just nineteen minutes later, Stapleton notched her eleventh goal on an assist by Amaya Winkler (Billings, Mont. / SR). Stapleton has already surpassed her previous season high of six goals just two weeks into conference play.

The Carroll Women's Soccer team moves to 5-1-3 after tonight's game. Their next match is at Nelson Stadium this Sunday at 1:00 vs Multnomah University.
