HELENA, Mont. – The 11
th-ranked Carroll Men's Basketball team secured an enormous win over No. 14 Montana Tech 80-66 at the PE Center on Thursday night.
Early in the contest, defense was the name of the game. It took a while for both offenses to get going as the first half was a low-scoring one. Following the first 20 minutes of play, the Saints led the Orediggers by a score of 32-31.
Carroll continued to apply pressure on both ends as the game continued to unravel. The Saints shot an impressive 67.7 percent from the field in the second half and totaled an impressive 21 assists on 35 made field goals.
In the end, the Diggers were outmatched by the Saints and Carroll cruised down the stretch to an 80-66 victory.
The leading scorer for the Saints was
Brendan Temple, who finished with a game-high 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting.
Shamrock Campbell was right behind with 17 points of his own.
Jovan Sljivancanin scored 11 and
Jonny Hillman scored 12. Hillman also finished with six rebounds, five assists, and five steals.
Keeley Bake and Caleb Bellach each finished with 16 points, which was tied for the Montana Tech team high.
Carroll, now 25-3 and 11-2 in conference, are tied with Montana Tech atop the Frontier Conference with the hammer for the head-to-head tie-breaker.
There are two conference games remaining on the schedule as the Saints go to Rocky Mountain College on Saturday and then head up to Providence next Thursday.
