EUGENE, Ore. - The Carroll College Women's Soccer team will face off with College of Idaho in a quarterfinal match of the 2022 Cascade Collegiate Conference Women's Soccer Championship on Tuesday at 3 p.m. (MST) in Eugene, Ore.
Carroll (9-5-4, 6-4-2) enters the 2022 CCC postseason tournament as the sixth-seed, drawing a quarterfinal matchup with the No. 24 ranked and third-seed Yotes of College of Idaho (13-2-2, 9-1-2).
Both the Saints and the Yotes had an unexpected extra day of preparation, or anticipation, for today's contest. On Sunday, CCC officials made the decision to delay the start of the championships, with heavy rain making field conditions unplayable. Today's game, originally scheduled for Monday, will take place at the same time (3 p.m. MST) but at a different field in Eugene, Ore. that experienced better drainage.
Carroll and College of Idaho have played once this season. The Yotes scraped out a 1-0 win on a Lizzy Gonzales goal in the 56th minute.
Both teams enter this afternoon's contest with some new accolades. Carroll's Blair Stapleton (Billings, Mont. / SR) was named the 2022 CCC Offensive player of the Year, leading the league with 12 goals scored on the season. College of Idaho's Gianna Yslava was named 2022 CCC Newcomer of the Year, and their Head Coach Brian Smith was named 2022 CCC Coach of the Year.
