Box Score HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll Women's Basketball team defeated Montana Tech 78-46 in their return to conference play on Thursday night at the PE Center.
Both teams started out a little cold in the beginning of the game. After a slow first few minutes, the Saints and Diggers started to trade buckets. Carroll led 17-14 after the first quarter.
The second quarter is when the Saints started to distance themselves, outscoring Montana Tech 21-4 in the second period.
Danielle Wagner and
Jamie Pickens caught fire and led Carroll to a 38-18 half time lead.
The Orediggers fought hard in the second half, but were unable to narrow the deficit. An overpowering attack led the Saints to a 78-46 victory.
Dani Wagner finished with a game-high 23 points on 9 of 12 shooting. She was also 4 of 5 on three-point attempts.
Jamie Pickens added 17 points on 7 of 9 shooting as the other Saints player in double figures.
Ally Cleverly was leading scorer for Montana Tech, scoring 11 points in just 15 minutes off the bench.
Carroll, now 15-2 on the year and 3-0 in conference play, will be on their home court at the PE Center again on Saturday afternoon. They face Rocky Mountain College at 2 p.m.
