Carroll Women's Soccer dominates in win over Multnomah

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Carroll women's soccer team put together a dominant 10-0 victory on Friday afternoon over Multnomah.

There were plenty of goals to go around for the Saints, but it was Blair Stapleton who got the fireworks started when she found the back of the net in the ninth minute. This goal would create an avalanche in which the Saints scored six goals in under 20 minutes.

Blair Stapleton scored another in the 16th minute off of an assist from Katie Martin. Then a little over a minute later, Katie Martin assisted Emily Funseth to put Carroll ahead 3-0.

In the 19th minute, Katie Anderson scored the Saints' fourth goal of the evening. After that, Katie Martin got a goal of her own and Amaya Winkler added another. In the blink of an eye, Carroll held a 6-0 lead going into half time.

In the second half of the game, it took the Saints until the 73rd minute to get back on the board.  But from that point on, Carroll added four more goals, resulting in a 10-0 final score.

Melissa Dugger, Kacy Clements, Katie Martin, and Kody Clements were the second half goal scorers for Carroll.

The Saints finished the game with a whopping 29 total shots, 17 of which were on target. The Lions took two shots (one on target) in the match. Sarah Conway and Alexandra Moeller combined for a clean sheet between the posts.

The Saints will square off with Warner Pacific tomorrow at 8 p.m. MST. The Knights are 1-4 overall, and 0-2 in the Cascade Conference, so far this season.
