HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College Track & Field Team travels to Williston, N.D. for the Dickinson State University Hawk Classic this weekend. The two-day meet will begin with the pentathlon, heptathlon, pole vault, and triple jump on Friday and conclude with the remainder of the multi-events, field events, and all running events on Saturday. There will be prelims and finals in the 60m and 60m hurdles, providing a good opportunity for athletes to run multiple times.
For the Saints, twenty-four athletes will make the trip. "We're excited to have more of a team atmosphere," said Coach Harry Clark. "It will be nice for it to feel more like a normal track meet."
The travel roster will include seven freshmen. Coach Clark indicated it will be fun to watch the younger athletes. "It's the first time they put on a college uniform, so that is always good."
The Saints are aiming for six national qualifiers at the meet. During the indoor season, the top 16 marks will qualify for nationals. This is a temporary change from the usual A & B qualifying standards.
