Lee Walburn placed 2
nd and earned All-American status on Day 2 of the Heptathlon at the NAIA Indoor Championships.
The competition was close all the way along between Walburn and Eastern Oregon's TJ Davis. Walburn notched personal records in the Pole Vault and 1000m Run on Day 2 en route to an overall personal best in the Heptathlon.
Brett Glaser also completed the multi-event, achieving a personal record in the 60 hurdles on Friday and placing 13
th overall.
"I know this wasn't exactly the outcome Lee wanted, but five PRs and All-American is a big accomplishment," said Head Coach
Harry Clark. "I'm proud of his calm mentality and how he showed up to compete and get better."
Several other Saints were also in action on Friday.
Chloe Gallagher cleared a height in the Pole Vault in her first Indoor Championships, and
Natalie Yocum ran the 16
th fastest time of the day in her Mile prelim.
Reghan Worley ran the 13
th fastest time of the day in her 3000m prelim, missing the finals by only one position.
"We still took many positives and lessons away from today," said Assistant Coach
Shannon Flynn. "Both women took steps forward this season in their confidence and race execution, and we're going to use this as a springboard into Outdoor."
One last Saint will take to the competition field on Saturday.
Nikki Krueger is currently ranked 2
nd in the nation in the Shot Put and was the Indoor National Champion in 2021. Krueger throws at 10:00 am MST on Saturday.
