Brookings, S.D. – The NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championship kicks off on Thursday at South Dakota State's Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
Six Saints have qualified for the National Meet.
Lee Walburn and
Brett Glaser will compete in the Heptathlon starting Thursday and concluding Friday.
Chloe Gallagher pole vaults on Friday, and
Nikki Krueger shot puts on Saturday.
Natalie Yocum (Mile) and
Reghan Worley (3000m) race in preliminaries on Friday with hopes of reaching the Saturday finals.
Walburn and Glaser come into the meet ranked 2
nd and 8
th respectively in the NAIA this indoor season, and they will compete in a total field of 16 athletes. Thursday's multi-competition events include the 60m Dash, Long Jump, Shot Put, and High Jump. Friday's events include the 60m Hurdles, Pole Vault, and the 1000m Run.
"We're excited about the quality athletes we're bringing to Nationals this year, and we believe every one of them has potential to place and score," said Head Coach
Harry Clark. "They have put the work in to be here, and we hope they'll rise to the occasion of the great atmosphere and top level of competition."
Events for the Saints begin at 11:30 am MST on Thursday.
