Carroll indoor track team heads to Snake River Open

HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College indoor track and field team returns to action this weekend in Pocatello, Idaho, at the Snake River Open.

"The fun part is it's fun to see the athletes after the break," Saints coach Harry Clark said. "We have over 30 going to this meet, which is a large collection of athletes because school is not in session yet. It's a good sign of kids that are working hard and participating this week."

The spring semester starts next week at Carroll, though members of the track team returned to campus early to be ready for a big meet at Idaho State.

Carroll will be among NCAA D-I talent on the track as it looks to qualify for the NAIA National Indoor Track Meet. It will be the second meet of the season for the Saints, who already qualified two for the national meet in early December.

The meet will take place at ISU's Holt Arena with multi-events starting on Friday. Events containing CC athletes will take place on Saturday.

On the men's side, Carroll registered 14 to compete at ISU. The Saints are expected to have competitors in the 60, 200, 400, 800, 3000, 60 hurdles, 4x400, high jump, long jump, shot put and weight throw.

The Saints will take about 19 women down to Pocatello on Saturday, too. Events that currently have Saints registered include the 60, 200, 400, 800, 3000, 60 hurdles, 4x400, high jump, pole vault, long jump, triple jump and weight throw.

"We're really looking forward to seeing our progression this weekend," Clark said.
