Carroll College track team to compete in Montana Open

HELENA, Mont. -- A group of about 50 track and field athletes will represent Carroll College this weekend as the team heads to Missoula to compete in the Montana Open.

"Kids are working extremely hard and we got our track back," Saints coach Harry Clark said. "We are ready to go this weekend. It will be the fruit of the labor. Time to step up after getting through the swamp in Spokane, running through a lot of rain."

Carroll will get into the action on Friday evening when the hammer throw begins.

Carroll will be among NCAA D-I talent at Dornblaser Field when the meet begins. Montana, Montana State and Eastern Washington are believed to be in the field this weekend.

A week after competing in the rain of Spokane, the forecast calls for temperatures in the 50s and sunshine in Missoula. The forecast has Clark feeling optimistic about more Saints hitting national qualifying marks. Carroll earned two NAIA Indoor Championship qualifiers last weekend. Freshmen Noah Majerus of Lewistown, Montana, and Shamrock Campbell, of Spokane Washington, both earned the NAIA B-Standard in their respective events.

Majerus earned the B-Standard in the 800-meter race with a time of 1:53.56 seconds.

Campbell jumped 14.31 meters in the triple jump to earn the mark.

Meet results will be posted on www.carrollathletics.com.
