No. 23 Carroll WBB falls at home to No. 12 LCSC

HELENA Mont. --  The No. 23-ranked Carroll Women's Basketball team fell to the No.12-ranked Warriors of Lewis Clark State on Friday night 69-61.

The teams were neck and neck the whole first half with Carroll trailing 32-25 at the end of the first half.

The Saints (7-4, 1-1 Frontier Conference) struggled to get into a rhythm during the third quarter where they went 5-for-15 from the field and 2-for-10 from the three-point line. During the third LC State pulled away by 15 but the Fighting Saints were able to bring the deficit down to 10 just before the end of the third.

Turnovers plagued the Saints all game with 21 total on the night. Carroll also struggled to get going from behind the arch shooting 9-for-28 (32.1 percent) on the night. The Saints were led by Kamden Hilborn, who had 15 points, three assists and two steals on the night. Christine Denny, Taylor Salonen, and Maddie Geritz were all in double digits on the night as well.

Jamie Nielson led the Warriors (6-1, 1-0) with 17 points.

Foul trouble haunted the Saints all game as they ended up with Hilborn, Lyman, and Geritz all fouling out. The Saints were whistled for 26 fouls, while just 11 were called on LC in a physical game.

Late in the fourth quarter a comeback seemed to be in reach as the Saints pulled within five. The Warriors did not give any more than that and were able to keep the lead at seven for most of the final minutes.

The Warriors shot well from the charity stripe, shooting 15-for-20 in the fourth quarter.

The Saints next play in Phoenix, Arizona, on Wednesday, December 18 against Our Lady of the Lake.
