HELENA, Mont. -- The No. 7-ranked Carroll College women's basketball team unleashed their offense on Saturday, dominating Cal Maritime 106-38 in the PE Center.
The Saints set school records for highest field goal percentage in a game and tied the most steals in program history during a game. The Saints as a team shot 67 percent from the field and 57 percent from the three-point line. The Saints recorded 22 steals.
"I thought the players came out with a sense of purpose," Saints coach
Rachelle Sayers said. "They are not satisfied with just playing close to Montana. We want to keep getting better every game. I am really proud of the fact that everyone shared the ball and worked hard to get their teammates involved. We also had a chance to get a lot of players quality minutes and they responded really well."
Dani Wagner led all scorers with 24 points.
Three other Saints recorded double figures scoring, including
Maddie Geritz (16),
Molly McDermott (11) and
Sienna Swannack (10).
Kim Masulit and Tyra Fai'malo led the Keelhaulers with nine points each.
The Saints (2-1) clamped down on the Keelhaulers (0-3) right away, pressuring the Californian team into 33 turnovers.
The Saints jumped out to an 8-0 lead before Cal scored. By the end of the first quarter, however, the Saints led 39-6.
Twelve Saints saw action on Saturday, while none played over 24 minutes against the overmatched Keelhaulers.
The Saints take on Montana State in their next content, an exhibition scheduled for Nov. 11.
