Saints Soccer Hosts MSU Billings, Presentation

HELENA, Mont. – Carroll College women's soccer hosts MSU Billings Thursday and Presentation College Sunday in the final two non-conference games of the season at Nelson Stadium.

The Saints are 2-2 on the year after earning a pair of shutout wins over NCAA DIII opponents Whitman and Whitworth last weekend in Spokane.

Carroll goalkeeper Devan Murfitt was named the Cascade Conference Defender of the Week for her performance.

"We are excited to be back home, this is our first home regular-season match, and it will be against a great opponent," Thorvilson said. "The defensive side, we are still playing a lot of numbers. We are still trying to find the right combinations and consistency, but we got clean sheets against two pretty good teams. It was a good defensive effort."

The Saints offense has found a little punch with a pair of goals from freshman Brynn Walker and scores from senior Madison Apsey and sophomore Taryn Neameyer

MSUB comes into the weekend with a 1-3 record. Alexa Iacolucci leads the team with three goals in four matches, and Alycia Wright has a pair to her name. Lili Delgadillo has a 1.75 goal against average, allowing seven goals in four games.

"We saw MSU Billings in the spring, they have a new coach, and we have to adjust to a new playing style," Thorvilson said. "We both graduated a lot, so there is a lot of unknown there, but we are playing a NCAA DII opponent who is very fast and physical and will help us prepare for conference season."

Sunday the Saints take on Presentation (S.D.), also the Saints. Presentation is 2-6 on the year and has given up 43 goals in eight games. Brittney Kusick leads Presentation with three goals on the year.

"It is nice to be here Thursday-Sunday and have a little break between games," Thorvilson said. "We have been on the road a lot early, and we are excited to get a pair of games in front of our fans."

Carroll takes on MSUB at 3 p.m. Thursday and Presentation at 1 p.m. Sunday. Live streams of both games will be available on the Carroll Youtube Channel.
