Saints Women's Soccer Hosts Rocky, C of I

HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College women's soccer team hosts rival Rocky Mountain Friday at Nelson in the first action of the homecoming weekend before hosting College of Idaho Sunday.

The Saints enter the match with a 5-3-2 record, and a 1-1-2 mark in Cascade Conference play. Rocky is 6-2 overall and 2-1 in conference. C of I is 3-5 overall and 1-2 in conference.

After a four-match win streak to close out non-conference play, the Saints have won just one game in four conference matches. Carroll gave up a late goal in regulation against Warner Pacific to allow the Knights to force overtime and a draw.

Rocky is led by Lauryn Gamache who has eight goals on the year, including a hat-trick against Southern Oregon.

"Rocky has had a great start to conference," head coach David Thorvilson said. "They have a win against SOU, topped C of I on the road, and they are scoring goals. They are fast and athletic, and they are a bit more patient with the ball this year. We need to match that patience. We need to enjoy the atmosphere of being at home and lean on that in a rivalry game for us."

After a rest day Saturday, the Saints host the Yotes who have just eight goals in eight games. The Yotes are playing strong defense and have held their opponents to just six goals, including a pair of shutouts.

"C of I is a very well-coached, very well organized team," Thorvilson said. "They graduated some big players and are having a bit of a youth movement, but they will be ready to play. The last time they were here in 2015, they beat us here so we can't take them lightly."

The games are slated for 3:30 p.m. at Nelson Stadium on both days. Live video is available via the Carroll Youtube channel.
