Carroll Women Earn 3-3 Draw in Late-Night Battle at Warner Pacific

Box Score PORTLAND – Three goals in just over two minutes was the start to the Carroll College-Warner Pacific women's soccer game, Late Saturday evening Damazo Field in Portland. But what started quick, would drag into the early morning and end in a 3-3 draw.
 
The Knights opened the scored in just 41 seconds into the game with a goal from Staci Tatum. Carroll answered right back with a goal just 42 seconds later from Madison Apsey. The tie wouldn't hold, and 46 seconds after that, the Knights' Ashley Giesbers headed in her first of two goals to regain the 2-1 lead for Warner. Just 2:09 into the game and three goals were on the board, the two teams would add three more, but it would take them 108 more minutes to conclude the match.
 
In just the fourth minute of overtime, the Saint equalized on a goal from Talya Vaira in the 47th minute, and Christina Plank knocked one in the 57th to put Carroll up 3-2.
 
The Knights earned an equalizer of their own in the 68th minute. The score would hold, despite good chances by the Saints in the second half and both overtimes.
 
Carroll closed out the match with a 20-13 advantage in shots and an 11-6 in shots on goal.
 
The Saints are now 5-3-2 overall and 1-1-2 in Cascade play.
 
Carroll hosts Rocky Mountain on Friday, Oct. 6th at Nelson Stadium in the next action on the docket for the Saints.
