HELENA, Mont. – After back-to-back wins against top-25 opponents last week, you might think the 11th-ranked Carroll College women's basketball team has it on easy street with a lone game against a Rocky Mountain team that has lost five-straight games. You would be wrong.
The Battlin' Bears have struggled since their loss at Carroll when Destiny Amezquita went down with an injury in the first half but Rocky's last two games have been decided by an average of 2.5 points, including a two-point loss to Frontier leader Lewis-lark State Thursday and a three-point overtime loss to Montana Tech.
The Bears also started the Conference season 4-1 before and have proven the ability to win games against quality opponents.
Carroll won the first match up of the season 55-50 at the PE Center to start the skid for the Bears and since that time the Saints are 3-1, with the lone loss coming in double overtime on the road against LCSC.
Cassidy Hashley leads the Saints with 12.81 points and 7.95 rebounds per game. She has four double-doubles on the season.
Senior guard
Katie Estey was named the Frontier Conference Player of the Week after scoring a career-high 26 points Friday against UGF and scoreing 11 points and notching seven assists Saturday against MSU-Northern.
Rocky Mountain is led by Whittney Mitchell who scores 15 points per game and Tenika Capouch has a team-high 7.67 rebounds per game.
The Saints and Bears take the court at 5:30 p.m. in Billings.
