Saints Get in Win Column with 72-70 Victory Over Rocky

BILLINGS, Mont. – Zach Taylor scored 28 points including two free throws to break a tie and give Carroll College a 72-70 road win over Rocky Mountain Saturday evening in Billings.

The Saints trailed for the entire first half but took the lead with 17:41 left to play on a bucket by Ryan Imhoff.

Carroll built a nine point lead with 6:06 left in the game on a bucket and free throw by Oliver Carr.

Rocky tied the game up at 70 with 12 seconds remaining before Taylor's free throws iced the win for the Saints.

"We had a spirited week of practice, the fellas brought great energy during it, which carried over into the game," head coach Carson Cunningham said. "I'm really happy for them. They work hard. Rocky Mountain hit some huge shots--they made it difficult. But the Fighting Saints pulled through."

Along with Taylor's 28 points, Carr and Imhoff both scored 13 for the Saints.

The Saints (14-7, 3-4 FC) were 27-of-50 (54 percent) from the field, the Bears (13-8, 2-5 FC) were 24-of-53 (45.3 percent).

Carroll hosts No. 18 Montana-Western Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the PE Center to kick off the second half of the Frontier Slate.

The Saints fell 77-66 in the first matchup in Dillon. Cunningham is excited to play in front of the Carroll Faithful and give his team the chance to watch a little football Sunday afternoon.

"We are excited to have a home game on Thursday," Cunningham said.  "And I guess I should add, for Zach Taylor and the rest of the Seattle fans: Go Seahawks."
