FORREST GROVE, Ore. – The Carroll College women's basketball team moved to 8-0 on the season with a 69-57 road win over Pacific (Ore.) in Forrest Grove.
Pacific jumped out to a 5-0 lead just three minutes into the game but Carroll battled back to take an 8-7 lead with 2:59 left in the first quarter and the Saints would never trail again.
The Saints led 33-22 at the half and built their largest lead of 48-28 with 2:38 left in the third quarter.
Carroll led 61-42 with 4:44 left in the game and Pacific was able to cut the advantage to 66-57 but that is as close as they would come as the Saints cruised to the 69-57 win.
"I couldn't be happier for our team," head coach
Rachelle Sayers said. "We had different people at different times step up and we needed it. This was a brutal road swing and I'm so proud of these kids. Twelve of our 16 players are freshman and sophomores and they are growing up quick. To be 8-0 at this point after six road games in six days is amazing."
Cassidy Hashley tallied 15 rebounds along with 13 points to lead the Carroll offense,
Katie Estey scored a team-high 15 points and
Baylee Watson scored 10.
Carroll was 35 of 5 (45.5 percent) from the field and out rebounded Pacific 45-24. Carroll tallied almost as many offensive rebounds (16) as Pacific's defensive boards (18).
The Saints next travel to face Northern New Mexico in a neutral site game in Phoenix on the day after Thanksgiving.
