GARY, Ind. – Nick Williams hit a shot with 12:18 left in the first half to give Carroll College a 13-11 lead over Indiana University Northwest. The Saints would lead the rest of the way and cruise to a 54-40 road victory over the Redhawks Sunday afternoon.
Oliver Carr had 15 points to lead all scorers and Lorel Johnson added 13 points for the Saints. Jake Hollifield led the Saints with 11 rebounds and Zach Taylor had 10 rebounds.
The Saints held IUN to 17-62 (.267) from the field and outrebounded the Redhawks 50-29.
"Nice to see the defensive effort from the Fighting Saints this afternoon," head coach Carson Cunningham said. "Our guys dug deep, channeled that inner-Tardigrade, to win our 2nd straight road game in a stretch of back-to-back-to-back tilts in Indiana."
Johnson was 3-6 from the field for 13 points, one short of his career-high. The Saints' rebounding effort was just two rebounds short of their season-high.
"Lorel Johnson played a particularly nifty game," Cunningham said. "Jake Hollifield and Zach Taylor had a big game on the boards both hauling in double-digit rebounds."
The Saints are now 6-1 on the season, just three wins short of their win total of last year.
Carroll will again be on the road next weekend when they travel to South Alabama, the University of Mobile and Spring Hill College.
