HELENA, Mont. - Thursday evening's conference opener was the highest-scoring match of the young season, but the Carroll Women's Soccer team and in-state rival Rocky Mountain College would be forced to settle for a 2-2 draw on Valley Bank Field at Nelson Stadium.

The annual showdown between the Fighting Saints (1-2-3, 0-0-1) and Battlin' Bears (2-0-3, 0-0-1) saw an action-packed first half provide fireworks right from the opening touch.

Just 40 seconds into the match, Rocky's Charlize Davis was fouled in the box, leading to an early penalty kick opportunity for the Bears. Davis went off for injury, but Gracie Clarkson stepped in and opened the scoring with a PK into the bottom right corner to put Carroll in a 1-0 hole in the opening minute.

The Saints found an equalizer in the 11th minute, as Central Washington-transfer Carmen Anderson (Missoula, Mont. / JR) flicked a header past the Rocky keeper following a perfectly placed cross by Rachel McAllister (Brier, Wash. / JR).

Anderson's first goal in the Purple & Gold helped turn the momentum of the match, and in the 27th minute the Saints would break through again. The Cascade's leading goal-scorer in 2024, Delaney Moczan (Las Vegas, Nev. / R-JR), scored her first goal in nearly a full calendar year. Moczan missed the majority of the 2025 campaign with a leg injury, but her return to the goal column off an assist from GG Lougen (Camas, Wash. / FR) would put Carroll on top 2-1.

Charlize Davis would level things up at 2-2 in the 32nd minute, racing past the Carroll back line on a deep ball before finding a way to beat Carroll keeper Maria Ackerman (Billings, Mont. / SR) in what would prove to be the final goal of the evening.

Both teams had their chances in the second half, but neither side would come away with the game-winner. 

Rocky's Ava Gibson was shown a pair of yellow cards in the late stages, putting the Bears down one player for the final nine minutes, but the Saints simply couldn't find a way to score for a third time.

Carroll doubled Rocky in shots on the night (14-7), five of which were on net. 

The Saints will have a full week to prepare for their next match, as they stay at home for a weekend doubleheader with Northwest and Evergreen State next Thursday and Saturday in Helena.
