WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The Carroll College Women's Soccer team opened its 2026 season on the road against top-ranked competition, falling 2-0 to No. 1-ranked Keiser on Saturday afternoon at Arrigo-Vecelio Field.
Keiser (2-0-1) wasted little time asserting its ranking, striking in the 5th minute when Haley Miller buried a shot for her first goal of the season off assists from Blanca Bachi and Delia Letelier. The Seahawks kept the pressure on for the remainder of the half, out-shooting the Fighting Saints 10-1, but goalkeeper Maria Ackerman (Billings, Mont. / SR) turned away both of the shots on frame she faced to keep Carroll within a goal at the break.
Keiser continued to dictate the pace after halftime, ringing shots off the post and crossbar before finally doubling the lead in the 70th minute, when Miller converted a penalty kick for her second goal of the day. Ackerman stayed busy in net, finishing with seven saves on the afternoon, five coming over the final 45 minutes
Carroll (0-1-0) had its best look of the match in the 68th minute when Gabrielle Lougen (Camas, Wash. / FR) forced a save from the Keiser goalkeeper. Bailey Koster (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho / FR) tested Tanaka again in the 73rd minute, but couldn't sneak one past. The Saints finished with four total shots, two on goal, while Keiser held a commanding 26 and nine advantage in shots and shots on goal.
The Saints are back in action on Sunday to close out the opening weekend, taking on St. Thomas University (Fla.) on Sunday at 11 a.m. in Miami Gardens.
