Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Carroll Women Ice Cold in Loss at No. 7 Dakota State

MADISON, S.D. - The (RV) Carroll Women's Basketball team couldn't get anything going in a lopsided 70-34 loss at No. 7 Dakota State on Saturday evening at the DSU Fieldhouse.

Little to nothing went the way of the Fighting Saints (16-8, 14-4) on Saturday, as a historically poor shooting night led to a lopsided loss to the Frontier-leading Trojans.

Things got out of hand in a hurry for Carroll, as Dakota State began the game on a 17-2 run in which the Trojans shot a blistering 60 percent (6-10) over the first seven minutes en route to a 22-9 lead after one.

Carroll's best frame of the night came in the second quater, as they buckled down defensively after the shaky start. The Saints held the Trojans to just two field goals in the frame (2-12), but points were still hard to come by on the offensive end as the lead would only be trimmed by three heading into the half.

Another lengthy Trojan run coming out of the break put the game to rest early. Dakota State scored 20 unanswered points over the first seven minutes of the third, breaking the game wide open.

The loss was an anomaly for the Fighting Saints, as their 22 percent shooting night was the single lowest mark since at least 2003-04. Carroll finished the night just 12-54 from the floor, their worst effort from the floor since 2020 (Jan. 29, 2020 - 15-59 at RMC).

The offense was out of rhythm all night as a whole, as Carroll had 20 team turnovers for only the second time this season, and were out-rebounded by 17 (DSU 45, CC 28).

Kenzie Allen (Grantsville, Utah / JR) and Willa Albrecht (Billings, Mont. / R-SR) were the lone Saints to score in double figures, finishing with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Carroll will look to respond next weekend in their final homestand of the 2025-26 season, as they host Providence and MSU-Northern at the PE Center on Friday and Saturday at 5 p.m. each night.
