HELENA, Mont. - It was a historic night in Helena, as
Felix Billard became the Carroll Men's Soccer program's all-time leader in goals scored to help lead the Fighting Saints to a dominant 4-0 win over Corban on Valley Bank Field at Nelson Stadium.
After eight years, there is officially a new program record-holder for the Fighting Saints (8-5-2, 7-3-1). With a 55th-minute finish,
Felix Billard (Mallorco, Spain / SR) became Carroll Men's Soccer's career goals leader with 34 - cementing his legacy as the top offensive weapon in program history.
Billard, the 2024 Cascade Collegiate Conference Offensive Player of the Year and multi-time All-Conference selection, surpassed the previous high-water mark set by one of the best to ever don the Purple & Gold, Jose Porras.
From 2015 to 2018, Porras compiled 33 goals, including bookend 12-goal seasons as a both a freshman and senior, while scoring four goals as a sophomore and five as a junior.
Billard's path to the record book looked a little different. Appearing in only six games as a freshman, he scored just one goal. The Spaniard burst onto the scene as a sophomore, however, leading the league in goals with 15, helping lead Carroll to its first CCC Championship in program history. He followed it up with a 10-goal effort last season, and now enters the final game of the regular season just one shy of his third-straight season with double-digit scores.
The record-breaking goal will be remembered for years to come, but it was just icing on the cake for the Saints, who had already built a two-goal advantage over the Warriors (5-5-4, 2-5-4).
It was
Arnaldo Primera (West Midlands, England / FR) who got Carroll on the board in the first half. Primera gave the Saints a 1-0 lead late in the first half, finishing off an assist from fellow freshman
Miguel Blasco (Zaragosa, Spain). Blasco then got a goal of his own just one minute into the second half, doubling the Carroll lead with an assist from Billard.
Billard added to his newly established record in the 62nd minute, tucking-in the second goal of his brace off a feed from Primera to put the dagger in the Warriors and bump the Saints into second place in the league table.
Much like the Women in the match earlier in the evening, the Carroll Men dominated the flow of the match throughout. The Saints put up 24 shots to Corban's two, 16 of which were on net.
Noah Jordan (Deer Park, Wash. / JR) got the start in net, going 73 minutes of scoreless action before
Dane Quinn (Helena, Mont. / JR) came in to finish-off the joint clean sheet effort.
Billard, along with seven other Carroll seniors, will be recognized on Saturday at noon, as they take on Bushnell in a Senior Day matchup that carries plenty of postseason seeding implications.
