ASHLAND, Ore. - The Carroll Women's Soccer team played Southern Oregon to a 1-1 draw on Friday afternoon, fighting back from an opening minute blunder to split the points at Raider Stadium.
Although they led the match in total shots, 17 to 11, a first minute mistake by the Fighting Saints (2-2-5, 1-0-3) nearly cost them the game.
A poor pass on the back line just 39 seconds into Friday's match led to the first goal of the match. A Carroll misplay deep in their own territory fell right into range for the Raiders' (6-0-3, 3-0-1) Tori Lasch, who put away a wide open look to send the Saints into comeback mode right from the get-go.
It took 70 minutes, but Carroll eventually found a response. One of the Saints' five corner kicks on the afternoon would rattle around up for grabs in the box.
Makayla Schnabel (Billings, Mont. / FR) would get a boot on it, beating SOU keeper Ashlyn Fuss for her fourth goal in just seven matches.
Maria Ackerman (Billings, Mont. / SR) finished with three saves, keeping the Raiders off the board for the remainder of the match as the Saints played to their fifth draw on the season.
The Saints will look to pick up their second CCC win of the season tomorrow, as they head to Klamath Falls for a 1 p.m. (MDT) showdown with Oregon Tech.
