GLENDALE, Ariz. - Neither the heat, nor the Firestorm were able to hold down the Carroll Women's Soccer team on Monday morning, as the Fighting Saints wrapped up a desert swing with a 2-0 shutout of Arizona Christian in Glendale.

While the final score wasn't nearly as lopsided as the last two in the series, the Fighting Saints (2-0) kept their unbeaten, and unscored upon, streak over the Firestorm (1-3) alive with Monday's shutout victory.

Nearly 14 full years have passed since the last meeting between the two schools, but Carroll moved to 3-0 and pushed the goal differential to 21-0 in the all-time series.

"Excited with the 2-0 win." said Head Coach David Thorvilson "We were definitely tired today, and played a little sloppy. We have some areas to work on moving forward, but the defense kept another clean sheet and we had multiple goals."

Junior forward Delaney Moczan (Las Vegas, Nev.) gave the Saints a lead heading into the halftime break with her second goal in as many games. The 2024 First Team All-CCC selection managed to beat the ACU keeper in the 42' off an assist from fellow captain Ella Kuenzli (Bigfork, Mont. / SR), capping a half that saw Carroll out-shoot ACU 17-4.

"They (ACU) sat back and allowed us to shoot a lot from distance, but a lot of those weren't good looks and the stats will show that. Both goals came when we got the ball back onto the ground, and attacked the final-18."

Carroll's second goal of the afternoon came in the 70', as Moczan added her third point of the game on an assist for Ella Tollefson's (Keeland, Calif. / SO) first goal of the young season.

Tollefson's insurance goal would prove plenty, as the strong defensive effort from the Saints saw GK Maria Ackerman (Billings, Mont. / JR) forced to make only one save in the clean sheet victory.

The Saints will have a sizable break before their next contests, a trip to Eastern Washington for a pair of games against Whitworth and Whitman on September 13 and 14.
