Helena, Mont. – Carroll College Track & Field competes in their second home meet of the season on Friday and Saturday at the Trudnowski Open.
Saints Senior Day, running events, and field events will take place on Friday. As part of the meet, the Frontier Conference Championships for the Heptathlon and Decathlon will begin on Friday and conclude on Saturday.
Carroll will enter 74 athletes in the meet including four men in the Decathlon (Tucker Monaco, Carson Krack, Connor Tuss, and Jackson Tarum) and three women in the Heptathlon (Katelyn Christensen, Sorren Reese, and Anna Hume). Monaco is currently ranked 2nd in the NAIA for the men with Krack 10th. Christensen is 16th for the women.
Several National Qualifiers will be in action on Friday. Weston Means will compete in the High Jump and Josh Smalley in the Pole Vault. Brycen Gardner (3000m Steeplechase B Standard) will prepare for next week's Steeplechase Championships by racing the 5000m. Zack Gacnik (10,000m B Standard) will be part of the 4x800m Relay team that will be chasing the NAIA B Standard after missing by less than a second last week.
Previous individual national qualifiers Madalen Shipman (600m) and Brynn Wandle (Pole Vault) will be chasing the standards again this week with Shipman racing the 800m and Wandle vaulting. Hunter Gum approached the Shot Put standard last week in Great Falls and Reuben Hornby qualified for Nationals in the Javelin last spring. Both men will compete on Friday.
