Men in 2nd as Saints Score 4 All-Americans by End of Day 2 at Outdoor Nationals

05/22/26 | 6:01 AM

Asheville, N.C. – Carroll Track & Field put together a stellar first two days at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships.

The Saints stayed steady despite four lighting delays over the course of Wednesday and Thursday leading to multiple adaptations of the schedule. The team ended Thursday with four All-Americans, a new school record holder, and various other strong performances. The men are currently in second place as a team with potential points still on the board in the Pole Vault Friday.

Wednesday's highlights in the field events included Brynn Wandle placing 2nd in the Pole Vault to earn her second All-American honor this spring. Reuben Hornby threw his way to 2nd Place in the Javelin for the second consecutive year, also gaining another All-American award. Both individuals moved up from their initial performance ranking in the meet to end the day in Runner Up position.

In the multi events, Katelyn Christensen wrapped up her first National Heptathlon in 11th place. She had an especially strong Day 2, moving up over the last two events including an 800m personal record to go along with her Day 1 personal record in the 100m Hurdles. She will compete Friday afternoon in the Open Javelin as the event was shifted due to weather delays.

For the Decathlon, Carson Krack and Tucker Monaco ended Day 1 in 1st and 3rd Place after both men set lifetime bests in the High Jump and Monaco ran his fastest ever in the 400m. At the close of Day 2, Monaco ended with an overall lifetime best of 7167 points and Krack ended just four points shy of his personal record with 7522. Krack's score earned him his second straight National Championship in the Decathlon and 4th All-American award. Monaco finished as Runner Up.

On the track, Claire Bucklin set a new school record in the 400m Hurdles with her personal best Wednesday afternoon. The time placed her 11th in the Nation and missed the final by only one second. Bucklin returned to the track Thursday late evening as part of the 4x400m Relay along with Chloe Raats, Rylee Herbstritt, and Madalen Shipman. The women ran hard in a competitive field with Raats and Shipman wrapping up incredible careers for the Saints.

The Men's 4x800 ran under the Wednesday evening lights. Three men set personal records during their 800m leg: Tanner Joyce, Wyatt Ehredt, and Jack Jensen. Oliver Morris competed in the 3000m Steeplechase prelim on Thursday afternoon after it was bumped from Wednesday's schedule in the midst of lightning. In his first individual race at Nationals, he ended just two spots out of making the final.

"It was such a great first couple days," said Head Coach Harry Clark. "The athletes handled all the changes really well, and it's awesome to come away with ??? All-Americans and have more chances coming up tomorrow!" he added.

Besides Christensen's Javelin at 2 pm Eastern Friday, Tucker Monaco and Jackson Barney will jump in the Men's Pole Vault. The event will start at 9 am Eastern as opposed to the initially scheduled 11 am.
