GREENWOOD, Ind. – College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced Tuesday the 2026 Academic All-America® Track & Field teams for NCAA Division I-II-III and NAIA. Carroll College graduate
Reuben Hornby has been named a 2026 NAIA Academic All-American.
Academic All-American is a title reserved for
college student-athletes who perform at an
elite level in their
chosen sport and in the
classroom. The all-time list of 40,000+ Academic All-Americans includes major sports stars and some of the world's most accomplished individuals in medicine, business, science and the arts. Established in 1952 and selected by
College Sports Communicators (CSC), Academic All-America is the longest running and premier award for
athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all
NCAA levels, the
NAIA,
two-year colleges and
Canadian institutions.
As the Carroll Athletic department celebrated a combined 3.53 Spring Term GPA across all 430 student-athletes,
Reuben Hornby (Kalispell, Mont. / SR) stood out just a bit more, earning the first Academic All-American honor of his decorated Carroll career.
Hornby is one of the most accomplished throwers in Carroll Men's Track & Field history. The four-time Frontier Conference Champion in the Men's Javelin, Hornby also finished his career with back-to-back runner-up finishes at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in '25 and '26. This past May, he saved his best for last, throwing 64.19 meters on his sixth and final attempt to secure second place.
The three-time Academic All-Conference selection and NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete has twice earned CSC Academic All-District selections, both in 2025 and 2026.
Hornby represented the Men's Track and Field team on Carroll's Student-Athlete Advisory council, and has consistently been among the leaders in the classroom for the Saints all four years. He graduated with a degree in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology this spring, finishing with a 3.77 GPA.
Hornby is the third Saint in the last two seasons to earn the Academic All-America honor, joining 2025 selections Madalen Shipman and Josh Smalley.
Nominating and voting for Academic All-America® is an exclusive right of College Sports Communicators members.
The NAIA Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 NAIA Academic All-America® program.
