NORTH PLAINS, Ore. - The Carroll College Golf teams completed final round play at the Pacific Invitational on Sunday afternoon at the Ghost Creek Course at Pumpkin Ridge, with the Women finishing in 7th place, and the Men in 10th.
The Fighting Saints, not unexpectedly following a long winter break, had their ups and downs in their first tournament of the spring portion of their wrap around schedule on one of the more difficult tracks they'll play all season.
The Carroll Women fell off their pace from Saturday's round, shooting a team score of 364, but still finished in 7th place (723, +155), just three strokes behind CCC member Bushnell.
Freshman
Ellie Stastny (Murtaugh, Idaho) shot the round of the day for the Women, leading the team with a 14-over round of 85.
Lauren Mayala (Billings, Mont. / FR) improved from day one, shooting 92, while
Stella Claridge (Kalispell, Mont. / JR) and
Celi Chapman (Montana City, Mont. / SO) rounded out the Carroll four with scores of 93 and 94, respectively.
On the Men's side of the action, the Saints slightly improved on their day one team score, shooting 334 to bring their two-round total to 670 (+102).
Jackson Hammond (Scottsdale, Ariz. / SO) and
TJ Fierling (North Bend, Wash. / SO) paced the Saints on Sunday, both firing 10-over rounds of 81.
JT Slivinski (Montpelier, Idaho / SO) was one stroke back at 82, and
Tanner Cromwell (Anaconda, Mont. / FR) rounded out the Carroll scorers with a final round 90.
Rocky Mountain College won both the Men's and Women's team events at +6 on the Men's side and +77 on the Women's side, with Kristjan Burkelca winning medalist honors for the Men. College of Idaho's Kaylee Jones was the individual medalist honors in the Women's competition.
The Saints will have some time to prepare ahead of their next event, the Electric City Dual against Providence at Eagle Falls Golf Course on April 6.
