Missoula, Mont. - The Fighting Saints Track & Field Team had a strong opening meet at the Al Manuel Open on Saturday.

Brycen Gardner hit the NAIA National Qualifying B Standard in the 3000m Steeplechase. It was his fastest opening Steeple to date and earned him his third consecutive trip to the Outdoor National Championships.

Multiple Saints set personal records across the meet. In field events,
Hunter Gum set a lifetime best in the Shot Put,
Shelby Tadlock in the Discus, and
Anna Hume in the Long Jump. Gum's throw moved him into 5
th on the Carroll Top 10 Lists.
Claire Bucklin ran her fastest ever 400m as part of the winning 4x400m Relay and
Oliver Morris ran a personal best in the 3000m Steeplechase. Morris' run puts him into 2
nd All-Time for the Saints. All three Carroll 5000m runners –
Anna Terry,
Ali Cunningham, and
Daniel Koralewski – ran personal records. Koralewski's time moves him into 8
th on Carroll's leaderboards.

"This is a good starting place," said Head Coach Harry Clark. "Now we need to go to work and keep getting a little bit better every week over the course of the season," he added.

The Saints compete every week through the Frontier Conference Outdoor Championships hosted at home in early May. Their next meet is also at home on April 4-5.
