Spokane, Wash. – Saints Track & Field had a strong meet at the Riverfront Invitational in Spokane, WA on Friday February 7.
In an exciting competition with several early misses, Weston Means high jumped to a personal best and school record with a jump of 6 feet 10.25 inches. Means placed 2nd in the event. The leap moved Means into a tie for 2nd in the NAIA Men's High Jump overall.
Hannah Sempf, Anna Terry, and Jenna Castro ran smart in the Women's 5000m, while Oliver Morris, Luke Decker, and Daniel Koralewski all set personal records in the event. Morris placed 3rd in the men's race. Both groups worked well together and used the tough competition to their advantage within the races.
The Men's Distance Medley Relay - composed of a 1200m, 400m, 800m, and 1600m leg - provided excitement at the end of the night. Brycen Gardner, Peter Rehberger, Wyatt Ehredt, and Zack Gacnik executed well, missing the NAIA B Standard by only 2 seconds.
"This meet is always fun, but it was especially exciting this year," said distance coach Shannon Flynn. "The group really supported each other and made it a great experience, and that contributed to some amazing performances," she added.
