Men's Basketball | 02/01/25 | 10:02 AM
HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Basketball teams will begin the second-half of Frontier Conference play with a road doubleheader, taking on Rocky Mountain College at the Fortin Center in Billings, with the Women tipping at 2 p.m. and the Men following at 4 p.m.
The sprint to the Frontier Conference finish line has officially started, and the Fighting Saints understand the importance of every game from here on out, starting with a pair of key games against the Battlin' Bears this afternoon.
On the Women's Side of the action, Saturday's matinee will be of the utmost importance. Carroll enters the weekend tied with Rocky atop the league standings, each with an identical 6-2 mark in conference play.
Saturday is a chance for Carroll to distance themselves from the field, however, as they won the previous meeting between the two schools in Helena last month. A win today would give the Saints an outright lead in the standings, while also securing the season series over the Bears, along with a head-to-head tiebreaker.
The Saints will look for another big performance from their newest member of the 1,000 point club,
Kyndall Keller (Havre, Mont. / R-SR), as well as
Willa Albrecht (Billings, Mont. / R-JR). The pair combined for 40 points in the last meeting between the two schools, and are coming off a similar performance on Thursday where they combined for 46 points in a lopsided win over Tech.
The Carroll Men are on a bit of a skid heading into the Saturday game, having dropped their last two games, but are determined to stop the bleed and get things rolling again in Billings.
The Saints put on an impressive display in the last meeting between the teams, cruising to a dominant 96-80 win over the then-ranked No. 19 Bears in Helena last month. That win kick-started a three-game win streak for Carroll, and they'll look to start a similar run this afternoon.
Isaiah Crane (Portland, Ore. / R-FR) continues to lead the league in scoring, averaging north of 17 points per game, but today's game could well be won in the paint. Both
Derek Kramer (Bellevue, Wash. / JR) and
Murat Guzelocak (Istanbul, Turkey / R-SR) have been playing well as of late, and have given opposing teams fits when on the court together.
