Carroll Women Complete Season Sweep of Dickinson State

HELENA, Mont. - It was a happy home opening weekend of Frontier play for the Carroll Women's Basketball team, as they completed both a weekend and season sweep with their 70-54 win over Dickinson State on Saturday evening at the CC PE Center.

For the second-straight night, the Fighting Saints utilized a strong defensive performance to pull away, this one coming at the hands of the Blue Hawks.

After a quiet night on Friday, Willa Albrecht (Billings, Mont. / R-SR) got things going early for the Saints on Saturday. Albrecht attacked the basket time-and-again in the first frame, scoring eight points while going 4-5 from the line. Meagan Karstetter (Moses Lake, Wash. / SR) and Isabelle Erickson (Broadview, Mont. / R-SR) combined for 11 more points, but the Blue Hawks stayed within two points following a 75 percent shooting effort in the frame.

While both teams slowed down as a whole in the second quarter, Albrecht kept her hot hand rolling. The 2024-25 First Team All-Conference player added another eight points to her tally, and Carroll would carry a 34-32 lead into the half.

Once again, the third quarter was critical for the Saints, as they tightened the clamps defensively and saw full team production on the offensive end. Carroll broke the game open thanks to smothering defensive pressure, as they came away with seven steals and held the Blue Hawks to just 27 percent from the floor (3-11). Albrecht and Kenzie Allen (Grantsville, Utah / JR) combined for 13 points and the Saints extended their lead to 18 heading into the fourth - where they would close out the win.

Albrecht led all players with a 25-point performance, going 13-15 from the stripe, while also adding four rebounds and four steals.

Two other Saints finished in double-digits, as Kenzie Allen had 12 points to go along with three steals, and Meagan Karstetter added 11 points as well.

The Saints forced 26 turnovers with their strong defensive pressure, leading to 27 points off of turnovers.

Carroll will head to the Sunshine State this week, as they take on Rochester Christian (Mich. ) and William Carey (Miss.) as part of the Daytona Beach Classic.
