Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

(RV) Saints Secure Spot in Frontier Tourney, Sweep Mystics

HELENA, Mont. - Down to their final two games of the regular season, the Carroll Volleyball team picked up a critical sweep of Bismarck State in the penultimate game of the year to punch their ticket to the 2025 Frontier Conference Tournament next week in front of their home crowd.

The Fighting Saints (16-13, 11-10) started a little slow, but continued to get better as the night progressed - topping the Mystics in straight sets on Thursday evening.

Carroll, who swept the first meetings between the two teams in Bismarck last month, couldn't find a way to break things open in the first set. Several times they managed to grab a small lead throughout the frame, but each time the Mystics would respond. Serving set point at 24-23, the Saints saw BSC rattle off three straight points to grab a set point serve of their own and flip the script. Taysa Conger (Merino, Colo. / SR) powered home a kill to level the match at 25-25, and Jansyn Carrizales (Sunnyside, Wash. / JR) ended the win with an ace.

Both teams struggled a bit in the second frame, as Carroll led the set hitting .000 as team (BSC -.041). The Mystics held an early lead, but seven kills in the set by Conger helped Carroll pull away for a 25-22 win.

The beginning of the third set was a back-and-forth battle, but the Saints ran away with the win after closing the frame on a 10-1 run that featured three aces. Three BSC errors down the stretch put the game to rest as Carroll closed out the sweep with a 25-15 win.

Conger led all players on the evening, finishing her night with 15 kills.

Lauren Fox (Bozeman, Mont. / FR) posted a game-high 18 assists, while Carrizales added 11. The two setters also each finished with a pair of aces in the win.

The Saints will look to send off their senior class in style tomorrow night, as they host Dickinson State in the season-finale at the PE Center at 6 p.m.
