HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll Women's Soccer team fell 2-0 in a Saturday afternoon matinee against Southern Oregon on Valley Bank Field at Nelson Stadium.
The Fighting Saints (3-2-4, 1-2-2) went toe-to-toe with one of the top teams in the CCC, but surrendered a pair of second half goals to fall to the Raiders (7-1-1, 4-0-1).
Playing without two-time All-CCC goalkeeper
Maria Ackerman (Billings, Mont. / JR) following a red card on Thursday, the Saints got a great showing from
Allison Olson (Lewiston, Idaho / SO) who performed well in her second start of the 2025 season.
Olson and the Saints held-off the Raiders in the first half, as the game would enter the break tied at 0-0. While Carroll outshot SOU in the frame, four saves from SOU keeper Brittany Standley kept the Saints off the board.
Southern Oregon broke the scoreless tie in the 56th minute with a goal from Kaylah Bresee, and then doubled their advantage just seven minutes later. Brooklyn Hayes provided an insurance goal for the Raiders in the 63rd minute with an assist from Macie Yannoni.
Carroll was unable to cut into the two-goal lead, and SOU would walk out of Helena with their fourth conference win of the season.
All said and done, Olson finished her afternoon with six total saves on 12 Raider shots.
The Saints will remain in Helena for the week for the first time this season, hosting another pair of home games on Thursday and Saturday against Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho.
