GREAT FALLS, Mont. - The Carroll Women's Soccer team picked up a much-needed win on Thursday, earning a 1-0 shutout over Providence at Argos Field.

The Fighting Saints (4-4-4, 2-4-2) snapped their longest losing streak since the 2021 season (4 games) on Thursday, with a hard-fought shutout of the Argos (4-6-2, 4-5) in Great Falls.

While goals have been hard to come by in recent weeks for the Saints, they wasted little time in finding the net on Thursday. Rachel McAllister (Brier, Wash. / SO) scored the game's lone goal on Carroll's second shot of the afternoon.

The Sophomore's seventh minute goal provided Carroll with an early 1-0 lead, their first since the first half against Oregon Tech on October 2, and the early strike also moved McAllister into the team-lead for season goals with four.

Pressure was the theme of the game for the Saints, as they heavily outshot the Argos. In total, Carroll finished with 22 shots (9 first half, 13 second half), with a season-high 16 shots on goal.

Providence keeper Jennifer Alvillar was busy, finishing with saves on 15 of the 16 Carroll shots on goal, but her lone mistake of the game proved to be just enough wiggle room for the Saints to win.

McAllister led all players with eight total shots in the match, a season-high for any Saint in 2025. 

Maria Ackerman (Billings, Mont. / JR) recorded three saves in her clean sheet victory.

Carroll will now have a full week to prepare for their final two home games next weekend in Helena, with Warner Pacific and Walla Walla coming to town on Friday and Sunday.
