SHELBY, Mont. - Both the Carroll College Men's and Women's Golf teams finished in third place at the season-opening 2024 Argo Sizzler at the Marias Valley Golf Club on Tuesday.

The Carroll Men finished in third place as a team, finishing the event at +74 for the week (+27, +18, +29), while the Women finished at +80 (+35, +45) en route to a third place finish as a team as well.

Sophomore TJ Fierling (North Bend, Wash.) was the lowest scorer on the Men's side of the action for the Saints, finishing his week in 14th place at +16 (+8, +1, +7). A pair of freshmen, Hudson Reinke (Filer, Idaho) and Tanner Cromwell (Anaconda, Mont.) got their collegiate careers started with top-20 finishes. Reinke finished at No. 16 with a three round total of +18, while Cromwell finished No. 20 at +20 for the event. JT Slivinski (Montpelier, Idaho / SO) rounded out the Carroll four, finishing one spot behind Cromwell at +22.

Rocky Mountain College won the team event, finishing +12 over the three rounds with Aidan McDonagh earning medalist honors after finishing at even par for the week.

Celi Chapman (Montana City, Mont. / SO) had an outstanding tournament on the Women's side, shooting rounds of 79 and 78 (+13) to finish fourth in the individual portion of the event.
Ellie Stastny (Murtaugh, Idaho / FR) secured a top-10 finish in her first collegiate event, firing a second round 79 to finish No. 9 at +17 for the week. Stella Claridge (Kalispell, Mont. / JR) and Alli Stastny (Murtaugh, Idaho / FR) each fell off the pace from Monday, but both finished in the top-20 (Claridge +23 [15], Stastny +30 [19]) to round out the scoring Saints in Shelby.

The Montana Tech Women earned a one-stroke team victory (+49) over Rocky (+50), while Rocky's Kadence Fischer won medalist honors at +2 for the tournament.

Both Carroll teams will be back in action next week, as they head to Laurel for the Beartooth Invitational - hosted by Rocky at the Laurel Country Club.
