Carroll Volleyball Drops Back-And-Forth Battle with Montana Tech

HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Volleyball team fell in four sets to Montana Tech in the second of their two Homecoming Weekend games on Saturday night in Helena.

The Fighting Saints (11-3, 1-2) couldn't quite overcome some self-induced mistakes, dropping the closely-contested match with the Orediggers (8-5, 2-1) in four.

Feeding off of a loud and rowdy homecoming crowd, Carroll came out on top in the first set, 25-15, hitting .326 in the set as a team.

Set two played out completely opposite, as it resulted in a 25-17 win for the Orediggers who only three errors in the frame.

Montana Tech took a 2-1 lead in the match after barely edging out Carroll for a 26-24 win in set three after the Saints rallied for three late points to even the set at 24-24.

The match concluded with another tight set in the fourth, as the Orediggers outlasted the Saints 27-25 to claim the match, recording 19 kills to take the set.

Saturday night's match yet again saw Lauren (Helena, Mont. / SO) and Elizabeth (Helena, Mont. / SR) Heuiser leading the Saints in kills, each finishing with 13.

Julia Carr (Portland, Ore. / GR) recorded 26 digs on the night.

The Orediggers were led by Kinnidi Willmore with 17 kills.

The Fighting Saints will be back in action against MSU-Northern, Thursday Sept. 26 at the P.E. Center in Helena at 7 p.m.
