HELENA, Mont.- The Frontier Conference has announced their Frontier Conference/Erck Hotels weekly awards for week one of the 2024 cross-country season. Carroll College swept the awards, with both Zack Gacnik and Hailey Watkins earning the season's first weekly honors.

Men's Runner of the Week: Zack Gacnik (Carroll)

Gacnik, a junior from Conifer, Colorado, ran a strong race at the Bobcat Twilight Meet last Friday. Gacnik was the top NAIA finisher, breaking into the top 10 overall in a meet full of NCAA Division I competition, with a ninth-place finish with a time of 15:03.5 (5k). 

This is Gacnik's first career Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Runner of the Week award. 

Women's Runner of the Week: Hailey Watkins (Carroll)

Watkins, a freshman from Dillon, Montana, made quite the collegiate debut for the Fighting Saints at the Bobcat Twilight Meet in Bozeman. 

Watkins was the top Frontier Conference finisher on Friday evening, finishing 18th overall at 19:10.1 (5k), helping lead the Saints to a 4th-place team finish. 

This is Watkins' first career Erck Hotels / Frontier Conference Runner of the Week award. 


Gacnik and Watkins are the first Carroll Cross Country athletes to win the weekly honor since Isabelle Ruff in September of 2023.

The Saints will return to action one week from today, heading to Butte for the annual Tony Banovich Invitational.
