IRVINE, Calif. - The Carroll Men's Soccer team played Westcliff Univeristy to a 0-0 draw on Sunday evening to wrap up the non-conference portion of their schedule.
The Fighting Saints (1-1-2) didn't find the win they were looking for, forced to settle for a nil-nil draw with the Warriors (4-1-1).
The first-ever meeting between the two schools was uneventful, as neither side would find the net on Sunday evening.Â
The first half played out fairly even. with Carroll putting up four total shots and Westcliff taking five. None of the Saints' shots were on-line, while goalkeeper Juan Muniz Navarette (Hermiston, Ore. / SR) made two saves in the first 45.
The Warriors would play more aggressively in the second half, totaling nine shots in the frame, but only one was a shot on goal and Navarette corralled it with little issue.
Â
Alfie Snow (Middlesbrough, England / JR) and
Adam Webster (Las Vegas, Nev. / JR) led Carroll in shots, each with a pair.
While the result is not exactly what the Saints had hoped for, they now enter the CCC regular season with only one loss on their record.
Carroll will begin conference play on Friday, kicking off a very busy homecoming weekend with a 3 p.m. showdown against Rocky Mountain College.
