HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Men's Soccer team picked up their first Cascade Collegiate Conference win of the season, beating Rocky Mountain College 3-0 Friday afternoon at Nelson Stadium.
The Fighting Saints (2-1-2) took a commanding lead thanks to a pair of big first half goals.
Felix Billard (Mallorco, Spain / SO), assisted by Sean Balen (Mukilteo, Wash. / SO), scored in the 32nd minute. Six minutes later, Luke Rosenberger (Eau Claire, Wisc. / Grad) gave the Saints a comfortable two goal lead with a beauty of a finish in the box off of an assist by Joseph Satterthwaite (Las Vegas, Nev. / JR).
Felix Billard scored his second goal of this afternoon brace in the 63rd minute, assisted by Alfie Snow (Middlesborough, England / FR), to put the dagger in the convincing shutout victory over Rocky.
Rocky Mountain led both teams with 14 shots, though stellar play in goal for the Saints from Juan Muniz Navarette (Hermiston, Ore. / JR), and a stout defensive back line proved to be the difference in the contest.
Muniz Navarrette, the reigning CCC Defensive Player of the Week recorded six saves en route to his third-consecutive shutout.
It was another physical game for the Saints' with five yellow cards being shown on the afternoon.
The Carroll Men are back in action Sunday at 1:00 p.m. against Walla Walla University to close out an eventful Homecoming weekend.
