UPLAND, Ind. - The Carroll College Soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against RV Taylor University on Saturday night in Upland, Ind.

The Fighting Saints (1-0-1) needed all 90 minutes, but every second count in a tightly contested 1-1 draw against the Trojans in their first road contest of the season.

After coasting to a 6-0 win in their previous game against Lethbridge (Can.) earlier this week, the Saints found themselves in unfamiliar territory quickly in Indiana.

The Trojans grabbed a quick lead, scoring on their first shot of the game in just the fourth minute. Kiana Siefert managed to sneak one past Maria Ackermann (Billings, Mont. / SO) off of an assist from Leah McQuade, and the Saints would trail early.

Carroll was heavily out-shot for the remainder of the first half, with Taylor doubling the Saints' shot total, 12-6, but both teams would be unable to find the net and the Trojans would carry a 1-0 advantage into the break.

The tone of the match would change in the second half, with Carroll being the aggressor. The Saints put up 14 shots to Taylor's six.

The heavy pressure from the Carroll attack would finally get home, albeit in the final minute of the match. 

True Freshman Rachel McAllister (Brier, Wash.) would knot the game in the waning moments, a full 86 minutes after the game's first goal, and Carroll would walk away with a hard-earned draw to keep their unbeaten record.

Following the early goal, keeper Maria Ackermann was outstanding. The All-CCC performer totaled nine saves in the game, matching that of Taylor's Brianna Rawlings.

One more game awaits the Saints in the Hoosier state, as Carroll will play Indiana Tech tomorrow evening before returning to Helena on Monday.
