Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Carroll Women Rout Lethbridge to Open 2024

HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll Women's Soccer team made a statement in their opening game of the 2024 season, earning a 6-0 shutout win over Lethbridge (Can.) on Wednesday evening at Nelson Stadium.

The Fighting Saints (1-0) left nothing to chance in their official season opener, pouring in six goals in a dominant shutout victory over the Pronghorns.

Delaney Moczan (Las Vegas, Nev. / SO), a Second Team All-CCC performer as a freshman, gave Carroll the first goal of the season in the 12th minute, but was far from done for the day. Moczan fired off seven total shots, four of which on goal, to lead the Saints in the win.

Deanna Lord (Cave Creek, Ariz. / JR) doubled the Carroll advantage in the 22nd minute, scoring her first goal of the year off of an assist from Emily Funseth (Great Falls, Mont. / GR).

In the 39th minute, Funseth would put up her second point of the day, burying a penalty kick goal into the bottom-left corner of the net. Her goal gave the Saints a 3-0 lead heading into the half.

The second half proved just as fruitful as the first for the Fighting Saints. Moczan scored the second goal of her brace in the 70th minute with an assist from midfielder Zoie Koci (Boise, Idaho / GR).

Helena native, and captain, Jamyee Sheridan (Helena, Mont. / SR) would also record a brace in the lopsided win. Her two goals in the final 20 minutes were highlighted by a header in the box following a beautiful cross from Ella Kuenzli (Colorado Springs, Colo. / JR) that gave Carroll its 6-0 win.

In total, the Saints put up 27 shots in the victory.

Goalkeeper Maria Ackermann (Billings, Mont. / SO) was solid in the net, even with little action headed her way. The First Team All-CCC selection finished with five total saves in her clean sheet.

Carroll will head to Indiana tomorrow, preparing for a two-game Midwest swing against (RV) Taylor and Indiana Tech this weekend.
