HELENA, Mont.- The Frontier Conference has announced its first Erck Hotels weekly awards of the 2024 season. Carroll College defensive specialist Julia Carr has earned Frontier Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors.

For the ninth time in her four-year Carroll career, Julia Carr (Portland, Ore. / GR) has garnered the league's weekly defensive award.

Carr, the 2023 NAIA national leader in digs per set, continued her dominance to open up the season. The Fighting Saint libero averaged 9.07 digs per set in her first four games, tallying  an impressive136 total digs. After returning for her graduate season, Carr was all over the court in Carroll's five-set victory over Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday morning, finishing the match with a game-leading 51 digs.

A Second Team All-Frontier selection in 2023, Carr proved why those in the Carroll community know that she is one of, if not the best defenders in the entire nation, let alone conference. Her strong play in the opening event not only sets herself up for a big season, but more importantly a return to the Frontier title chase for her team this Fall.

Carr and the Saints will head west this week, traveling to Lewiston, Idaho for the Hells Canyon Invitational hosted by Lewis-Clark State, where they will play three games a gainst West Coast opposition.
