HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College Volleyball team is back on the road again this week, making the trek East for a weekend pair against Dakota State and No. 7 Bellevue.
The Fighting Saints (14-7, 9-5) had a successful three-game road swing in-state last week, beating both Rocky and MSU-Northern before falling in a competitive four-set battle at Providence on Saturday.
Senior
Lauren Heuiser (Helena, Mont.) earned the program's first Frontier Conference Player of the Week award this season, the second weekly honor of her career. She totaled 49 kills in 11 sets, averaging 4.45 kills per set while hitting .293. Heuiser also contributed 10 digs, six blocks and 54 total points throughout the week.
Carroll comes into the weekend right in the thick of the seeding race for the upcoming Frontier Conference Championship, hosted at the PE Center next month. The Saints sit at No. 4 in the league standings, tied at 9-5 with Friday night's opponent, Dakota State.
The Saints won a five-set thriller in the first meeting between the programs last month in Helena, and will now look for their first-ever win in Madison, S.D. this weekend.
On Saturday, Carroll will look for their second Top-10 win of the season as they take on Bellevue. The Bruins entered the week unbeaten in Frontier play, but dropped their last match to Dakota State on Wednesday evening.
Friday night's tilt with the Trojans is set to start at 4 p.m. (MST), while Saturday's showdown with Bellevue is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
