Burk Receives Frontier SID of the Year Honor

HELENA, Mont. – Frontier Conference Commissioner Dr. Scott Crawford has announced the conference's award winners and NAIA Awards Day nominees for the 2023-24 academic year. Carroll SID Conlan Burk has been named Frontier Conference Sports Information Director of the Year.
 
The award honors an individual who demonstrates excellence in all aspects of athletic communication including; social media, press releases, photography, statistical compilation, website updates, coordinating media personnel, graphic design, and promotion of the Frontier Conference and the NAIA.
 
Burk is coming off of his second full year in his current role of Coordinator of Athletic Communications, Marketing, and In-Game Operations for the Fighting Saints
 
"I am extremely honored to receive this distinction, and beyond grateful to my Frontier colleagues for the recognition." Said Burk. "There are some outstanding SID's in this conference, and I truly appreciate their dedication and support in making sure all of our student-athletes receive the experience they deserve, league-wide. At the end of the day, my job is made easy by having the opportunity to cover, what I know to be, the best student-athletes in the nation."
 
Burk is responsible for covering all 15 Carroll varsity sports on a year-round basis. His multitude of roles includes head statistician and primary media contact for all varsity sports, public address announcer for several sports, live-stream production, and game operations manager for every Carroll home game. Additionally, Burk is responsible for the Fighting Saints brand, creating graphics, video content, publications and promotion throughout the Carroll Athletics social media channels to help spotlight all 400-plus Carroll student-athletes.
 
In addition to the Frontier SID of the Year award, Burk was recently recognized for his publication work over the past year. His Football game notes were awarded "Best of NAIA" by College Sports Communicators in their annual Creative & Digital Design awards. Burk also received five separate Top-10 distinctions for publications by the NAIA-SIDA in several categories (Sport Posters, Infographics - Game Day, Game Notes). Most notably highlighted by his first and second place honors in the Game Notes category (Football, Women's Basketball).
 
For the second-consecutive year, Carroll Athletics has seen its social media presence grow in terms of audience, reach, and content. Across all platforms, followers and users have grown nearly 10 percent over the prior year. The Fighting Saints Network, Carroll's home for all athletic streams grew 11 percent, with subscriptions seeing a 40 percent increase in the same time frame. In total, Saints fans provided 100,000 unique views totaling over 28,000 hours of watch time.
 
Burk will now move forward to the national ballot as the Frontier Conference nomination for the NAIA National Sports Information Director of the Year. Each affiliated conference and the CAC (Independent) nominate one Sports Information Director for the NAIA National Sports Information Director of the Year based on accomplishments during the previous year in the areas of athletics communication, sports information, administration and service to the NAIA.
