HELENA, Mont. – The Frontier Conference has announced the winners of its weekly individual awards. Carroll's
Brycen Gardner has been selected as this week's Erck Hotels Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Brycen Gardner is a sophomore distance runner from Spokane, Wash.
Gardner was outstanding this past weekend in his hometown of Spokane. He placed second in the 3000m Steeplechase at the Whitworth Peace Meet. He was the top NAIA finisher, finishing behind only one NCAA DI runner. His personal-best time of of 9:17.71 hit the NAIA A qualifying standard and is the second-best mark in the entirety of the NAIA this season.
This is Gardner's first Frontier Conference Student-Athlete honor of the season, and he joins fellow distance runner Zack Gaknick (Conifer, Colo. / SO) as Carroll's two recipients of the award.
Gardner and the Saints will be in action here in Helena later this week, hosting the Fighting Saints Open at Vigilante Stadium on Thursday, April 11.
