Helena, Mont. – Carroll College Track & Field competed well in both the University of Providence Open on Thursday and the Whitworth Peace Meet on Friday this week.
University of Providence Open
The Fighting Saints gained another National Qualifier in Great Falls with Chloe Gallagher jumping the NAIA B Standard in the Pole Vault on Thursday despite cool, rainy conditions early in the day. Gallagher, a senior, competed at the NAIA Indoor National Championships this winter, vaulting a personal record during the indoor season.
Carroll won ten events on the men's side: 400m (Treyton Graham), 800m (Peter Rehberger), 1500m (Peter Rehberger), 5000m (Oliver Morris), 110m Hurdles (Archie LaFurge), 400m Hurdles (Tucker Monaco), High Jump (Weston Means), Long Jump (Carter White), 4x100m Relay, and 4x400m Relay. For women the Saints won twelve events: 200m (Chloe Raats), 400m (Madalen Shipman), 800m (Kathryn Snyder), 1500m (Sydney Lamb), 5000m (Emma Stachofsky), 100m Hurdles (Rylee Herbstritt), 400m Hurdles (Rylee Herbstritt), High Jump (Gabriella Domenici), Pole Vault (Gallagher), Triple Jump (Sophie Loveless), 4x100m Relay, and 4x400m Relay.
Many Saints set personal records throughout the meet. On the women's side this included Kayla Botkin (Hammer Throw, Shot Put), Abigail McBeain (Discus, Shot Put), Amaya Fischer (Discus, Shot Put), Katelyn Christensen (High Jump), Rebecca Middleton (400m Hurdles), Shipman (400m), and Kailen Herbstritt (400m). For the men it included Rehberger (1500m), Wyatt Ehredt (1500m), and Morris (5000m). Botkin's lifetime bests moved her to 3rd in the Hammer and 7th in the Shot Put on Carroll's performance lists. Rehberger's run moved him into the Top 10 in 10th place.

Whitworth Peace Meet
The Saints hit two NAIA A Standards in distance events in Spokane on Friday. Zack Gacnik debuted in the 10k, setting the school record, winning the race, qualifying for Nationals, and moving into 5th in the NAIA. Brycen Gardner placed 2nd in the 3000m Steeplechase. He ran a personal record and jumped to 2nd in the NAIA.
Multiple Carroll athletes set lifetime bests at the competition. This included Connor O'Hara in the 10,000m and Hannah Sempf, Grace Schopp, Luke Decker, and Daniel Koralewski in the Steeplechase. Decker's time was only 13 seconds away from the NAIA B Standard in the event and moved him into 2nd all time at Carroll. Jenna Castro had a great debut in the 3000m Steeplechase, as did Anna Terry and Ben Wallace in the 10,000m. All three athletes moved into Carroll's Top 10 lists with Castro in 7th, Terry in 5th, and Wallace in 10th.

Up Next
Carroll will compete in one of their two home meets of the season next week at the Fighting Saints Open. Multi-events will begin on Thursday April 11 at 11:00 am Mountain. The remainder of the multi will start at 9:00 am on Friday with field events and running events taking place at 11:00 am.
